What Will You Do:

We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join the APJ leadership team and global finance team. The ideal candidate will be an independent go to person and problem solver with broad knowledge and experience in general accounting, regulatory and local tax covering Singapore, Australia, Japan and India. As the partner to the APJ leadership team, he/she will utilise best practices and knowledge of both internal and external business processes to deliver required reporting and analysis, takes a new perspective using existing solutions and oversee a regional team covering full accounting functions including but not limited to: accounts payable, general ledger, financial reporting and analysis, month end close, P&L, Balance Sheet, budgeting and forecasting, cash management and project accounting. 


  • A strategic business partner and a financial expert within the Region to lead region wide financial related projects and initiative.
  • Close collaboration with senior management, corporate finance, internal peers, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead a small finance team and communicate with the global finance team to monitor the financial position of respective entity and ensure the smooth running of the day-to-day accounting operations.
    • General accounting – GL maintenance, reconciliations, procurement process, monthly close process, and support finance analysts with accounting, regulatory and tax issues, payroll review, funding requirements, cash flow forecast, and bank / treasury compliance.
    • Reconciliation and review of AP, Inter Company, GST, Fixed Assets, Payroll, Accrual & Prepayments
    • Manage the APJ Finance team and liaise with the  3rd party accounting & tax service provider on local regulatory compliances.
  • Responsible for all the regulatory, tax and financial / management reporting requirements in the APJ region (covering Singapore, Australia, Japan and India)
    • Consolidate yearly accounts for external auditors, attending to queries and required schedules/ documents for completion of audited accounts
    • Prepare annual statutory accounts and liaise with auditors.
    • Manage and liaise with 3rd party accounting service providers on tax compliance matters such as filing GST, withholding tax and corporate income tax returns
    • Prepare relevant tax documents to support tax computation
    • Liaise with regulators and internal stakeholders on regulatory reporting matters.
    • APJ regional conduit working with Legal team on local corporate secretariat, company legal, and other regulatory matters
    • Other matters involving accounting, treasury and taxation matters of the region
    • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations and SOX.
  • Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting in the APJ region
  • Ad hoc tasks as needed.


How Will You Stand Out From The Crowd:

  • A Senior Accounting or Finance professional with ideally 15 years of related experience. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance, CPA, ACCA or its other equivalent
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment (experienced working with a global team)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people from different cultures, different levels of experience, both internal and external to the firm
  • Strong knowledge of Financial Reporting Standards in Singapore, Australia, Japan and India. Knowledge of US GAAP is a plus.
  • Good understanding of tax regulations and tax accounting principles, e.g. GST, income tax and deferred tax etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple and shifting priorities in a dynamic environment, and produce accurate and timely deliverables
  • Strong customer service orientation, a team player with the ability to establish collaborative working relationships
  • Results driven, detail orientated, self-motivated and proactive
